Burke County is working on acquiring the final Fonta Flora Trail easement to connect The Enclave to the 1780 community.
Trail officials anticipate beginning construction in The Enclave in 2023 and will update us of timing and progress. The “pocket park” at The Enclave’s marina was removed from maps until officials develop a long-term plan for how the space will be used/managed.
The trailhead along South Mountain Institute Road is planned for construction in 2027. This gives FFT officials time to plan the connections into McDowell County and make any adjustments needed after the trail has been open for a while.
